Baba Everaldo de Oxum is the founder and leader of Ilê Axé Omim Oniré in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia, Brasil. He was initiated by Iya Estelita Calmon de Oya in 1985 and has spent the last 38 years as a faithful son of Candomblé, bringing many children of the Orixa into the religion through initiation. Baba Everaldo has been a powerful advocate in the struggle for religious freedom and has worked with several arts organizations and community groups to bring the beauty of Candomblé to the world.
