Ìyá Márcia d’Ògún is the Iyalorixá of Ilê Ewa Olodumare in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. She is the daughter of Iyá Valdete Brito de Ewa who introduced and planted the first seeds of Candomblé in Chicago in 1993. Ìyá Márcia has been a leader and staunch activist against religious racism and intolerance in Brazil and was recently inducted to the Irmandade Da Boa Morte. Her fight for equal rights for practitioners of African Traditional Religions across the globe has been an inspiration and call to action not only in Brazil but in the United States as well.
