An Introduction to Candomblé with Baba Anibal Mejia of Oakland, CA
This session will explore some of the historical context, philosophy and beliefs of Candomble as a religion. Highlighting the spectrum of practice in Brazil and the diaspora, exploring connections to other Orisa traditions and indigenous practices.
Session II – Wednesday, July 22 from 6:00-7:30 PM CT
Becoming Candomblecista with Iya Vania of Ile Ase Kale Bokun in Salvador, Brazil
This session will focus Candomble as both a personal and communal religious practice. Delving into some of the roles and responsibilities within the Terreiro/Ile and its use as both a sacred and communal space.
Session III – Wednesday, July 29 from 6:00-7:30 PM CT
Itans – Orixa Tales and Legends with community elders
This session will highlight the wisdom contained in these sacred stories, connections to the odu and how they can impart lessons for everyday life.
